Celebration of Confirmation, First Holy Communion and First Penance

Because of the lockdown the celebration of these sacraments was postponed.

This was obviously a big disappointment for the children, their parents and teachers.

However, all have shown tremendous understanding and patience, especially the confirmation children whose ceremony was called off just 24 hours before it

was due to take place.

In the meantime, Bishop Duffy has given permission for Parish Priests throughout the Diocese to confer confirmation in their own parishes.

So, the dates and times for all three SACRAMENTS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Confirmation: Friday 11th September at 6.00pm in St Joseph’s

First Confession: Tuesday 15th September at 7.30pm in St Joseph’s

First Holy Communion: Saturday 19th September at 11.00am in St Joseph’s

From 29th June Churches have been able to re-open for limited public worship.
In order for this to continue to happen we are going to need more help

with cleaning the churches after each gathering and

with stewarding and ushering as the

2 metre rule regarding social distancing still applies.
We cannot safely open unless a sufficient number of volunteers are willing

to help...
Please let Fr McManus or any of the members of the coordinating group

know if you could help with this. (Veronica Baird, John Calgie, Kate McGee,

Ursula McFarland, Bronagh McFarland, Damien Monaghan,

Claude McKervey or Jonathan Brosnan)
Thank you

Local Council information

RTÉ's regular Sunday religious output on RTÉ One and RTÉ Radio 1 Extra / LW252

usually alternates week by week between Catholic Masses and Protestant Services.

Although there is a weekly Mass in Irish on Raidio na Gaeltachta, on Sundays at 11am,

it is recognised that during the current COVID-19 crisis, many people are feeling the absence

of a weekly Sunday Mass and Service in English on RTÉ terrestrial television, because they

are unable to connect with their own churches.

With the help of Churchservices.tv , this Sunday (26/4/20), we will therefore be broadcasting a

Mass at 2pm on RTÉ NewsNow, streamed from the Holy Family Mission in Glencomeragh,

Co. Waterford (https://www.holyfamilymission.ie/ ), and celebrated by Fr Patrick Cahill. It is

hoped to maintain this practice while restrictions persist, broadcasting Protestant Services,

too, on the weeks when RTÉ One / Radio 1 Extra is featuring a Mass.

RTÉ News Now can be accessed on Saorview Channel 21; Sky 521; Virgin 200; Eir 517 and

also via its own website, free app and via the RTÉ Player, where this content will also be

available after the initial transmission.

A Prayer in This Time of Challenge

has been written for our Diocese by Bishop Duffy and he asks that this be prayed, displayed

and shared as much as possible in the days ahead.
